Warning to Sussex pubs over BNP events

Ant-fascist campaigners have issued a warning to pubs and clubs in the Brighton and Crawley areas over two major British National Party (BNP) events.

The Unite Against Fascism (UAF) group warned that the BNP is planning to host a launch meeting at a Brighton pub on 10 December. The BNP often books rooms under false names such as "British Heritage".

In addition, the BNP is planning its regional Christmas party in Crawley on 13 December. A room is booked for around 200 people.

A spokesman for UAF said: “We are asking licensees and hoteliers to double-check any room bookings they may have for Wednesday in Brighton or Saturday in Crawley.

“Any organisation which books rooms under false names must be treated with suspicion.

"Premises which play host to the BNP also risk giving the impression of being BNP-sympathisers and alienating decent customers."
