Hairy Bikers challenge Midlands pub chef

An East Midlands pub chef will challenge TV’s Hairy Bikers to see who can produce the best local dish when they visit his pub.

Hairy Bikers: Go head to head with pub chef

The Red Lion at Stathern is the only pub in the country to feature in the Hairy Bikers Food Tour of Britain, and the episode will be screened on Tuesday 15 September at 5.15pm on BBC2.

TV chefs and motorbike enthusiasts Si King and Dave Myers will meet Sean Hope, the pub’s chef, and challenge him to a cook off.

In each county they visit, the Hairy Bikers create their own dish from locally sourced ingredients and then go head-to-head with a home-grown chef. Local decide which dish should win.

Hope pitted his skills against the the hairy twosome using local ingredients from his suppliers. Meanwhile, King and Myers went to Melton Mowbray to find their own produce.

Hope’s own ‘Taste of Leicestershire’ dish of ‘Pork Faggots, sage and onion rosti and cider sauerkraut’ uses pork from Debbie Green’s Farm in Scalford, cider from the Thirsty Farmer in Little Dalby, potatoes from a local farm and vegetables from the Red Lion’s own kitchen garden for maximum freshness.

The results will be revealed on Tuesday’s programme.
