Hockney: 'up yours' over smoking ban

Artist David Hockney has backed calls for a review of the smoking ban and said he "loathes" Brown and Blair for its implementation.

Hockney: I loathe Brown and Blair for ban

Speaking on the BBC Politics show, life-long smoker Hockney said pubs and cafes should be allowed a separate smoking room.

He said he missed visiting his favourite cafe in East Yorkshire because of the ban. "This is England and this is Brown and Blair," said the 72-year-old. "I loathe them for it."

He added: "I am not really interested in politics. Thatcher, Major — they didn't really interfere with my life but these do.

"These are really interfering and trying to tell me (what to do).

"They would have told Keith Floyd you would have been better off giving up the rich food, giving up the drink , cigarettes and sex. Have a glass of water and beans on toast and you will live a lot longer.

"And you know what he would have said to them? Well that's not what I cal living and up yours.

"And that's what they should say to Brown. Someone should say to his face actually — up yours.

"What on earth do you think you are doing. I would but I don't move in political circles."
