Coca-Cola Enterprises is responsible for manufacturing, selling and distributing over 80 different soft drinks products across Great Britain – that’s around 250 million cases every year.
We do this for brands owned by The Coca-Cola Company and for other premium brand owners too. In Great Britain Coca-Cola Enterprises employs around 4,500 people and has six manufacturing sites across the country, as well as a number of regional offices and depots.
Our parent company is Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc., an international organisation listed in the US, that makes, markets and distributes ‘Coca-Cola’ products in North America and Western Europe.
We make, sell and distribute Coca-Cola Company products in Great Britain, and we do the same with soft drinks for other brand owners.
We work closely with Coca-Cola Great Britain, a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Coca-Cola Company. Based in West London, this team of around 130 people is responsible for marketing and developing new and existing brands.
What we do
Coca-Cola Enterprises makes, sells and delivers soft drinks in Great Britain to a range of customers including retailers, wholesale suppliers, the licensed trade and leisure or workplace operators.
Virtually all of the 'Coca-Cola' products you buy in Great Britain were made here. Coca-Cola Enterprises makes, sells and delivers over 80 different soft drinks and is the largest manufacturer of 'Coca-Cola' products outside the US.
In Great Britain, our portfolio includes sparkling drinks like classic ‘Coca-Cola’, 'diet Coke', 'Coke' Zero, 'Fanta' and 'Sprite', as well as the 'Minute Maid' range of 100% fruit juices and juice drinks, the isotonic sports drink 'Powerade', energy drink ‘Relentless’ and ‘glacéau vitaminwater’.
The Coca-Cola Company owns the rights to the 'Schweppes' name in Great Britain and Coca-Cola Enterprises manufactures the 'Schweppes' product range including classic 'Schweppes' Lemonade, original 'Schweppes' Bitter Lemon, 'Schweppes' Indian Tonic Water, a variety of juices, and 'Malvern' English Water.
As well as manufacturing products for The Coca-Cola Company, we make and distribute soft drinks for other brand owners. These products include 'Capri-Sun', 'Appletiser', 'Fruitiser' and 'Peartiser'.
CCE and the Environment
Coca-Cola Enterprises wants to minimise the environmental impact of its products and operations and reduce our carbon footprint.
• All six of our manufacturing sites in Great Britain meet ISO14001 certification, the highest international standard for environmental management.
• All our glass bottles are 100% recyclable and contain an average of 30% recycled materials.
• Our cans are all made from 100% recyclable aluminium and contain around 50% recycled aluminium.
• Our plastic bottles are all made from PET (polyethylene teraphthalate) and are 100% recyclable. We’re now working with our PET suppliers to secure recycled PET for use in Great Britain.
• In 2007 we signed the Courtauld Commitment – a voluntary agreement on reducing packaging signed by 26 leading brand owners, manufacturers and retailers. It aims to stop the increase in packaging waste by 2008 and bring about absolute reductions by 2010.
• Reducing landfill is a top priority for us. For example, in just three years we’ve achieved a tenfold reduction in the amount of waste we send to landfill from our Milton Keynes manufacturing site.
• We now calculate and publish the CO2 emissions resulting from the manufacture and distribution of all our brands. To understand our carbon footprint in more detail, in 2007 we announced a partnership with the Carbon Trust to measure all greenhouse gas emissions embodied within selected products in our portfolio.
