Sun Lik beer unveils new look
Hong Kong’s Sun Lik beer is to unveil a new look next month, as brewers with Asian beer brands look to make the most of Chinese New Year celebrations this February.
Sun Lik, which is brewed under licence by Shepherd Neame in the UK, is ditching its brown bottle in favour of green glass and will also be getting a new-look font as part of the packaging revamp.
“Most diners in Asia enjoy their food with beer so the New Year celebrations are a great chance to join in with authentic beers from the region,” said brand manager Oliver Scott.
Other UK brewers and drinks companies, including Heineken UK and Halewood International, are also looking to get in on the act
with activity around the celebrations.
The New Year will bring in the year of the tiger, which Tiger Beer owner Heineken is taking as inspiration for a range of “Lucky Eight” events and a new advertising campaign, featuring Tiger Girl.
Halewood International, which distributes Tsingtao, is investing in free post-New Year celebrations in selected bars, and new glassware and commemorative Tsingtao lanterns, which will be seen in the Chinatowns of London, Liverpool and Birmingham.
A dedicated Tsingtao bar will also appear in Trafalgar Square on 21 February.
