Milton Brewery opens fifth pub

Cambridge-based Milton Brewery has just opened its fifth pub — the Devonshire Arms in Cambridge.

Milton Brewery: fifth pub set to open

The brewery bought the pub’s freehold for an undisclosed sum, and plans to stock a core of Milton beers, as well as build a kitchen on-site to offer food.

The firm was founded in 1999 and produces award-winning real ales, including Minotaur, Mammon and Cyclops.

The Devonshire Arms is Milton’s first pub in its home town.

Managing director Richard Naisby described the pub’s opening on Friday as a “storming success”. He added that having a pub in the city had been a long-held ambition.

“We plan to do food, once we’ve built a kitchen, and we’ll also offer some guest beers.”

The brewery already operates two other freehold pubs and two privately-leased pubs, including the Coalheavers Arms in Peterborough, the Oakdale Arms in Haringey, north London, the Pembury Tavern in Hackney, east London, and the White Lion in Norwich.
