Board changes at Hall & Woodhouse

Hall & Woodhouse, the regional brewer and pub operator, is to announce a clutch of boardroom changes this spring.

Hall and Woodhouse: set to unveil board changes

M&C Report understands that the group’s current chairman Lord Rockley, a former chairman of Kleinwort Benson, the investment bank, is to step down after nine years in the role.

Mark Woodhouse, currently co-managing director, will succeed Rockley as chair, leaving Anthony Woodhouse in charge of day-to-day operations as sole managing director.

In addition, the company is expected to unveil Mike Street, a former British Airways (BA) director, as a non-executive.

Until he stepped down at BA in 2005 — after 42 years with the company — Street was effectively chief operating officer, responsible for operations, customer services, airport planning and BA’s property portfolio.

Hall & Woodhouse, which brews the Badger range of ales and owns more than 240 pubs, will rubber stamp the changes at its annual meeting with shareholders in May.

In addition, the group is thought to be looking for an additional non-executive director, and expects to make an appointment later in the year.
