George & Dragon named Best Gastropub in Kent
The George & Dragon near Sevenoaks has scooped Best Gastropub at the Kent Restaurant Awards.

The Shepherd Neame pub is run by Mark and Fiona Harris with executive head chef Simon Brazier.
“To achieve such a prestigious accolade is tremendous recognition of the efforts of our entire team,” said Fiona Harris.
The pub impressed judges with its use of local, seasonal ingredients.
“We were searching for Kent’s Best Gastropub — not a fine dining restaurant housed in a former public house, with a sorry excuse for a bar,” said the judge’s notes,
The George & Dragon beat its sister pub the Harrow at Hadlow, run by the Harrises, which also made the final stage.
The award ceremony took place at Ashford International Hotel last week.
