Ever So Sensible plans restaurant expansion

Ever So Sensible, the Nottingham-based pub and restaurant group, has launched a new Tiki-bar concept in the city and also plans to open a new Le Mistral French bistro and wine shop.

Bad Ju Ju in Hockley: Polynesian style bar opened on 25 Feb

Bad Ju Ju opened in Hockley in Nottingham on February 25 and is a conversion of a former unbranded Ever So Sensible freehold pub.

Following a modest £5,000 refurbishment, the site has already achieved a 28% uplift on sales from the same week last year.

The company has recruited a former cocktail manager from Harvey Nicholls in Manchester and the venue has a premium rum offering based around a Tiki theme, featuring Polynesian-style décor and cocktails served in unusual vessels.

Also, the group is on the verge of acquiring a closed retail unit in Bakewell in Derbyshire.

Scott Whitaker, marketing and operations director of Ever So Sensible, said: “We are going for tweaks or new sites which can be funded out of cash flow that have a lower risk attached to them but can return the maximum profit uplift potential.”
