New pie for Merry men and women
A Nottinghamshire pub chef has created a Robin Hood pie to celebrate a new film about the Sherwood Forest hero.
Roy Wood, chef/owner of the Waggon & Horses in Halam, Nottinghamshire, willbe offering the Robin Hood pie throughout May when the film starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett is released.
The pie will be offered on the pub's lunchtime and early evening specials board at £8 for Robin's more senior merry men and women and £10 for others.
Wood has used the Robin Hood and Maid Marion from the Sherwood Forest visitor centre to help promote the pie.
He said: "Its written that Robin Hood was fond of poached venison, so to celebrate the arrival of the new Robin Hood movie I have created this dish.
The Robin Hood Pie will run as a limited edition dish at the Waggon and Horses just for the month of May to coincide with the films release."
The pie includes diced game meat such as wild boar, venison and rabbit and diced pancetta and has a bubble and squeak topping. Wood has previously created a Nottinghamshire pie, with all the ingredients sourced from the county.
