The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has listed its top ten most cherished pubs in the country with the relaunch of its Pubs Heritage website.

The site www.heritagepubs.org.uk has been updated with regional guides on where to find historic pubs, advice on preserving them and more images of the country's best historic interiors.

CAMRA's Pub Heritage Group shortlisted its top 10 most unspoilt pubs. These are:

• The Sun Inn, Leintwardine, Herefordshire: Britain's last 'parlour pub' has no bar counter and customers sit in the licensee's sitting room

• Philharmonic, Liverpool: This pub's Victorian interior has a mosaic bar counter and floor, ornate plasterwork and stained glass windows

• The Circus Tavern, Manchester: This tiny two-room pub has room for only one member of staff

• Black Friar, London EC4: Jolly friars appear in sculptures, mosaics and metal reliefs

• Kings Head, Laxfield, Suffolk: This inn has a public bar created by three high-backed settles

• Bleeding Wolf, Scholar Green, Cheshire: Inter-war five-room roadhouse

• Golden Cross, Cardiff: This pub has decorative tiled walls and a ceramic bar counter

• Horseshoe Bar, Glasgow: This ornate late Victorian interior has the country's longest bar

• Bridge, Topsham, Devon: This venue has a small bar called the 'Inner Sanctum' that can only be visited by invitation

• Cittie of Yorke, London WC1: This pub was built in the Tudor Revival style

Paul Ainsworth, chair of pub heritagegroup, said: "The pub is one of the great British traditions yet there has been so much change within them in recent decades that precious few still retain truly historic interiors — the few that are left are indeed precious and deserving of being looked after. We hope our new website will encourage people to seek out and visit them."
