Innovate: Notts pub offers 1981 prices for Royal Wedding
Roy Wood, of the Cross Keys, Upton, Nottinghamshire, has decided to offer drinks at 1981 prices for the royal wedding.
"Everyone is doing themed pies and drinks, so I thought of a way of linking it with the year of Diana's wedding," says Wood.
Punters get a royal wedding token when they buy their first drink at full price, to get a second beer, wine or soft drink at the price it was in 1981. This could be a pint for 62p.
The pub will also be decorated with bunting and offer special-edition ale Kiss Me Kate. Wood is marketing the idea close to the 29 April event to gain greater impact, adding: "Otherwise, people can forget what's going on or another pub may come up with a better idea."
He said: "We're always doing something."
