RE: Licensee fined for flouting smoking ban Doesn't this idiotic situation show how farcical this whole smokeban law really is! £30 fine for smoking in his own pub, the world has gone crazy. Not only are publicans suffering great hardships thanks to the ban they are being penalised for enjoying that which is a legal pursuit on their own patch! We at freedom2choose.info are determined to have this draconian law amended insomuch that pubs regain their freedom2choose-smoking or non smoking. Without such more and more pubs will be forced into closure. Join the fight, beat this ban. Phil Johnson freedom2choose.info This post replies to this thread |

RE: Licensee fined for flouting smoking ban Didn't realise it was a requirement to place signage on front and back doors. I was under the impression that it was in entrance areas.
But hey with everybody making up their own rules and enforcing them these days who knows?

RE: Licensee fined for flouting smoking ban This is awful - someone fined £30 for smoking in a pub. There should be a law against it! This post replies to this thread |

RE: Licensee fined for flouting smoking ban Ken If the back door is an entrance door, eg from car park, it needs a sign. You can't make the law up when you get to court. Alan This post replies to Ken Nason > RE: Licensee fined for flouting smoking ban |

RE: Licensee fined for flouting smoking ban Words fail me, this is the sum total of what this country has become when someone can be fined for using a legal product in his own private premises. The sooner this government is put out onto the pavement the better, they are all a bunch of little hitlers. This post replies to this thread |

RE: Licensee fined for flouting smoking ban Alan in your usual rush to jump on anyone who appears to speak out against anything to do with the ban you missed one fine point. You didn't read my post.
I wasn't critisising the inclusion of the back door as all entrances are covered. The fine was for not displaying the proper signage ON the back and front doors (accepted they are bothe entrances). All I said was there is no requirement for the signs to be ON the entrance doors. Perhaps it was a mis report and it was actually near as opposed to ON ON is misleading making it sound as if it is a requirement to have the signs ON the doors.

RE: Licensee fined for flouting smoking ban We only came into this business in November after selling our house to fund our venture. Turns out the figures we were shown were fabricated and our business is losing money hand over fist. If things don't pick up soon and dramatically then we stand to loose everything. After 6 years of being a non smoker the stress has started me off again... ironic eh? This post replies to Ken Nason > RE: Licensee fined for flouting smoking ban |

RE: Licensee fined for flouting smoking ban Dear Nikki That is absolutely shocking news. You must fight for your position now. Look at this thread on the MA website. Contact your MP. Use this link to find your MP's contact details. Make detailed, dated and timed, notes or record all communication with your pubco reps. Explain clearly as soon as possible that you are experiencing serious problems with the business because it is not perfoming any where near expectations that were based on the pubco infomation before going in. Go through all your paperwork from the time you were in touch with the pubco about the site initially. Find all information that might be misleading or just plain wrong and get it ready to present as evidence - to the pubco reps as well as to any MP or other outsider. Call Cooksey DMP - 01454 419900 - they are surveyors and valuers with a lot of experience in this area and ask their advice tomorrow morning. Do Not Wait! Good luck.
