Sound of black jackboots on the horizon or lack of common sense and negotiation abilities?

Surely they are unable to enforce a time when it had to be done by as long as he did not use it for smoking until the regulations were met.

As with all of these draconian badly drafted stupid pc laws, when they are open to interpretation by council officials who are on power trips or have agendas the whole thing goes belly up. Surely this could have all been resolved amicably to everyones satisfaction with some negotiation and understanding on both parties.

And just remember we have been told by the Great and the Good there will be commonsense used. Mind you they said the same over licensing. Why do we as members pay these people, they simply have no concept of the 'power' freaks in most LA's. It seems the English ban has claimed it's first casualty even before it's here. Jon, maybe this maybe that. Face it Jon you don't know what went on but that doesn't stop you making statements as if they were the knowledgeable truth.

Ken, the article does say he couldn't use it until it was sorted.

My comment is that the only time mentioned was by the landlord.

And my suggestion is that he wanted it open by five so had to do the work by five.

I bet the council couldn't care less when he opened it, as long as it conformed.

cant really see the landlords problem here. He was told it was illegal and therefore would not be allowed to utilise it until changes were made to make it compliant.

If my car didnt pass it's MOT it wouldnt be road legal until i'd fixed the parts - if the police pulled me over for driving an unfit motor i would have absolutely no grounds for complaint. where is the difference?
