The Publican’s Morning advertiser and spirits supplier Diageo are embarking on a new initiative to showcase the category potential to pubs. Spirits are worth £5.3bn to the UK on-trade and are set to become even more important, with significant growth predicted.
The number of pubs serving cocktails has risen by a third (between 2012 and 2013); drinks are getting more adventurous; you can’t easily replicate good mixed drinks at home, and, as on-trade visits decline, ‘weekend millionaires’ are living up to their name and opting for spirits-based drinks.
