Scottish Courage has become the latest company to sponsor National Pubwatch. Britain's biggest brewer has pledged £3,000 for National Pubwatch, which helps set up and assist individual pubwatch schemes across the country. ScotCo's cash injection takes the group's total sponsorship pledges to around £24,000. This is nearly half way to its target of £50,000 per year to enable its membership to cope with the growing workload. 'We are delighted to have Scottish Courage on board with us, said National Pubwatch honorary secretary Malcolm Eidmans. Greene King, JD Wetherspoon, Shepherd Neame, the British Institute of Innkeeping, Cale-donian Brewery and Budweiser brewer Anheuser-Busch have also signed up as sponsors. Eidmans said National Pub-watch continued to be bom- barded with calls from licen- sees who were anxious to set up or join a pubwatch scheme before they submitted their new licence applications. 'I expect after 6 August it will go quiet for a while, Eidmans said. Meanwhile, the various pubwatch schemes operating on the Isle of Wight have merged, so troublemakers have nowhere to drink on the island. Previously, yobs who were banned from venues in one pubwatch group would simply move to pubs elsewhere on the island, Eidmans explained.
