Cambridgeshire brewer Elgood and Sons Ltd has been admitted to membership of the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA).
Head brewer of the 200-year-old company, Alan Pateman, said: "As one of the smallest of the established brewing companies we have a lot of contact with SIBA members and like them we are fiercely independent. Membership underlines our growing commercial links with other brewers, with a view to opening up our markets."
SIBA's general secretary Peter Haydon said: "We are delighted to welcome a firm with Elgood's history and values to SIBA membership. We have long argued that Britain's independent brewers have more issues to unite them than to separate them and this has never been truer than in today's anti-brewer marketplace.
Firms like Elgood's and Brakspear have a lot to offer and with their expertise on board we look forward to continuing to expand the services and benefits we try to provide to all our members of whatever size."
SIBA held its annual meeting last weekend where members discussed the society's future strategies.
Meanwhile its members also walked away with 12 medals in the International Beer and Cider Competition. Mr Haydon said: "Such results are encouraging and give our members the confidence to enter the big brewing competitions."
