A new national pub quiz is to be launched to pick up from Jumbo Quiz, which went into liquidation earlier this month.

It's Your Round was to be launched as Jumbo Quiz Two, but is now being rolled into pubs as a new venture.

Jumbo Quiz, which launched in January this year, offered contestants the chance to play for weekend breaks in cities across Europe as well as a place in a grand final in Las Vegas.

But it went into liquidation after the company only signed up 800 pubs. It needed to attract 3,000 in order to make the quiz financially viable (see Teams let down as Jumbo Quiz goes into liquidation (June 7, 2001)for full details).

The new quiz has been devised by a company called Redtooth, which has been formed from a joint project between quiz specialists Sheffield-based Hemlock Promotions and AC Solutions in Wolverhampton.

The quiz will be supplied to pubs in rounds and will include a weekly news quiz about the events of the last seven days. The price for licensees will stay at £5.95 each week for the quiz sheets, but instead of the big prizes Jumbo Quiz offered, Redtooth is leaving the rewards and the entrance fee up to licensees.
