Corker of a shot concept launched into on-trade
GBL International has expanded its interests in the down-in-one sector with a new range of vodka-based shots.
Corky's is the latest entrant into an increasingly crowded yet booming shots and shooters market and follows in the footsteps of GBL International's VK Slammas and Fire and Ice concepts.
The bottled shooter range comprises of six flavours ranging from choc mint to lime and chilli and sports an ABV of 20 per cent.
Managing director Steve Perez said: "Corky's has been created for the on-trade and this is reflected in the uniquely designed packaging which will stand out behind the bar and catch the eye of consumers. The drinks have taken a long time to produce because we wanted to develop the ideal range of flavours which will meet the needs of consumers looking for new and exciting challenges. Corky's will help them keep one step ahead in the rapidly changing fashions of this sector."
The shot category only emerged around five years ago but Mintel recently estimated its value at more than £100m.
There are also signs that the market is dividing into three distinct sections with packaged concepts like Sidekick and Screamers, potent brands with an ABV of 40 per cent such as After Shock and Fire and Ice and finally, products such as Corky's, Sourz and the infamous Magma which carry a less intoxicating alcohol content.
