Former Campbell's soup boss Alison Levett joins the ranks of ex-grocery sector executives moving into the drinks industry. She has been appointed managing director of Allied Domecq's wine and spirits operation in the UK. Levett, who also held senior posts at Reckitt & Colman and Robinsons soft drinks, will be responsible for a portfolio which includes Courvoisier cognac, the Harveys sherry range, Beefeater gin and one of the biggest-selling liqueurs, Tia Maria. Levett succeeds Chris Heath, who was recently appointed managing director of the company's Spanish business, and will report to Neil Everitt, president of Allied Domecq Europe. Everitt commented: "Alison brings with her, experience of building teams and brands which will be valuable in driving continuing success. Her strong experience in brand marketing and clear leadership skills will greatly enhance our well-performing UK operation." The influence of former FMCG operatives in the broader drinks sector has never been greater. Two of their most respected figures, Rooney Anand and Neil Gillis, are now both on the board of Greene King.
