Greene King Pub Partners is pioneering a "partnering" scheme on capital developments that aims to maximise value for money and quality by building a relationship with contractors. The new scheme has been adopted for all capital projects worth more than £30,000 in the coming year. Twenty-four contractors each put together a net cost schedule on a variety of works, and then agreed to adopt the rates of the lowest tender as a basis for negotiation on all future partnered developments. Keith Moran, development controller who introduced the scheme at Pub Partners, said: "Contractors and consultants see a continuity of work and understand the importance of the relationship with our lessees and tenants. We have a set of agreed rates for works that enables us to manage and predict costs for the whole of the financial year." Seventy-two contractors and consultants have also been "inducted" to the Greene King standards and expectations on issues such as service quality. Moran added: "Our ultimate aim is to hand over a job snag free, on time and within budget, with the relationship as good at the end as at the start.
