Ireland has called for health warnings to be placed on bottles and cans of alcohol throughout the EU. Prime Minister Bertie Ahern said his Government was proposing a ban on alcohol advertising on TV and radio before 10pm and in cinemas where under-18s were present. The measures are seen as a way of tackling drink problems in Ireland, where per capita alcohol consumption is the second highest in the EU. Old tenner goes The Bank of England is to withdraw older-style £10 notes bearing a picture of Charles Dickens in July, replacing it with a newimage (pictured). For several months after the end of July most banks, building societies and post offices will still accept the older-style notes. Corus on chef hunt Corus Hotels has claimed the UK hospitality industry needs another 30,000 chefs to fill existing vacancies. The company is currently looking to hire chefs from South Africa and Eastern Europe 47 chefs have been hired in Bulgaria alone. The company is also launching a chef training scheme to ease shortages. McGinnes hired Steve McGinnes has joined Fuller, Smith and Turner as food marketing manager. McGinnes was previously senior category manager for food-led concepts at Interbrew.
