Young's denies Ram sale is a done deal
Young's has fiercely denied that the sale of the Ram Brewery is a done deal.
The London-based brewer said that while a sale of the site could potentially be desirable, any decision was a long way off.
Intense speculation had suggested that Wandsworth Council was set to issue a Compulsory Purchase Order for the 10-acre brewery, but the company said this was not the case.
Young's is in ongoing discussions with the council over a possible relocation. The company's departure from the site could pave the way for much-needed improvements to traffic systems as well the development of private flats. A sale of the brewery would generate millions for the company - up to £50m, experts think.
A Young's insider said: "There is much to be done and it is a very complicated process. Planning permission to redevelop the site may not be straightforward - there is a whole myriad of issues."
