A range of healthy eating options have been added to the menu by bar chain Slug and Lettuce.
The 56-strong town centre chain, owned by SFI, is about to launch a new autumn/winter menu which includes hearty winter warmers, as well as more low-salt dishes and an expanded range of gluten free and vegetarian options.
Earlier this month, S&L announced that the launch of a low salt, low fat version of its biggest selling dish, tortilla wraps, in support of the the Food Standards Agency's Sid the Slug campaign.
Backing that up are additions to the menu including real Scotch beef broth, bruschettas and flatbreads with a choice of toppings, and fresh crayfish tails and citrus salad. Another new addition is Nasi Goreng, an Indonesian dish of spiced fried rice with fresh chicken, prawns, onions, peppers and spring onion, topped with a fried egg. All food on the menu is fully traceable, with food sourced or developed locally in the UK wherever possible food. International ingredients such as Chorizo sausage and ham from Spain and Halloumi cheese from Cyprus also sourced directly from speciality suppliers. Slug and Lettuce is also launching a new guide to food and wine matching for all staff to help them advise customers on wines to accompoany dishes on the new menu.
