The Slug and Lettuce bar chain is making a feature of responsible sourcing on its spring/summer menu.
Building on a strong customer response to previous initiatives, the latest menu from the SFI-owned chain features dishes and products linked to a range of associations and suppliers promoting healthy and responsibly-sourced food.
The Red Tractor logo indicates that Slug & Lettuce works with local suppliers to source products such as farm fresh chickens, while the menu also includes a range of responsibly-produced products from the Prince of Wales' Duchy range, including shortbread and organic tea.
Working with the Celiac Society, gluten free dishes are available, while fair-trade coffee and hot chocolate are also offered.
Combined with ongoing work with both the Marine Stewardship Council on responsible fishing, and the 5 A Day programme with a range of fresh salads and vegetables, Slug and Lettuce believes its menu will help broaden pub food's appeal.
