The LTC is here to help

The Licensed Trade Charity (LTC) has for more than 200 years been caring for people who have worked or are working within the licensed drinks trade. It provides advice, support and financial assistance worth almost £1m to beneficiaries across the trade every year.

The LTC helps people who come to it at a time of crisis in their lives. Listed below are the types of support provided:

lEducation and boarding for children

lConvalescence breaks

lPayment of utility bills

lPayment of TV licences

lGrants for buying or replacing essential home appliances, such as fridges

lWinter payments

lDisability aids

lCrisis grants

lRegular allowances

lHousing nominations for the over-55s.

Examples of help given

lEquipment for a child with severe autism.

lProvision of a counselling course for someone who was attacked in their pub.

lProvision of a grant to a terminally ill cancer sufferer who was having difficulty paying their bills.

Could you be a volunteer?

The charity is looking for volunteers who have been, or still are, involved in the licensed drinks trade. Volunteers are needed to visit beneficiaries in their homes to assess their needs and identify areas where further help is required, and most importantly, to offer friendship and support. The LTC is looking for people who are good communicators and listeners and can empathise with people whatever their circumstances.
