A point-of-sale kit with a football theme aims to help pubs boost sales of chips during National Chip Week.

With 2006 being a World Cup year, the British Potato Council (BPC) believes Chip Week, running from 13-19 February 2006, National Chip Week is a great way to kick off the festivities.

The free kit includes a specially devised quiz to help pubs to run their own National Chip Week Quiz Night. It also contains posters for publicans to advertise their quiz night, bunting to hang in the pub and two limited edition Chip Week t-shirts to offer as prizes to the triumphant quiz winners.

BPC marketing executive, Caroline Evans, said: "National Chip Week is the perfect opportunity to encourage your customers to enjoy some tasty chips.

"The Chip Week quiz is a bit of fun for your customers, but you could also put some chip specials on the menu, such as a bowl of tasty chips topped with melted cheese and barbecue sauce or garlic mayonnaise."

For more information on National Chip Week 2006 and how to order a free kit, visit www.potatoesforcaterers.co.uk, alternatively contact the BPC by calling 01865 782 260, or email marketing@potato.org.uk.
