I have Sky Sports and Premiership Plus, but yet the busiest pubs in my town over Christmas were the ones showing the football via foreign satellite. Why ? because the matches popular to the local area are available via foreign satellite. It's all well and good saying it's not worth the risk of getting caught, but do you?I only know of one pub in the last 5 years to be fined (£1,700 not much compared to the actual cost ) even though I know of at least 50 pubs where I could go to watch a supposed illegal broadcast. The company that investigates on behalf of Sky is not big enough to seriously tackle the problem on a national level, and even if they did discover your pub with an Arabic or Danish satellite you would first get a verbal warning? Wow I'm shaking in my boots! My local licensing officer tells me that providing the pub has applied to show regulated entertainment on their premises licence there is nothing they can do. I thought to broadcast foreign channels was illegal and resulted in court action being taken, so how can this be a licenable activity ?If you can't beat 'em do I join 'em ? David Ian
