Trading Standards officers in Blackburn have seized satellite equipment from four pubs accused of showing Premiership football using foreign TV channels.

Officers were joined by representatives from Media Protection Services (MPS) in the raids this morning.

Although it is not illegal to have the equipment, MPS had previously visited the sites and found it being used to show Premiership football.

The four pubs which had their equipment confiscated were the Hordens, the George Hotel, the Victoria Hotel and the Dog Inn.

FA Premier League spokesman Dan Johnson said: "It is great to have the support of the police and Trading Standards in Blackburn and Darwin and we ope to repeat these raids across the country.

"We want this to send a message to everyone that the authorities are on-side and if they want to avoid prosecution then please stop showing.

"We would much rather that than keep taking individual licensees to court."
