The private, free-of-tie lease on a trendy Nottingham bar has been brought by professional golfer Himesh Patel.

Patel's career has taken him all over the world and he has competed in the Golden Bear Tour and the EuroPro Tour.

The Brass Monkey is located in Lace Market, near the Galleries of Justice and Lace Market Hotel.

The four-storey period building is described by agents Christie+Co as a "style bar with a trendy crowd made up of students and young professionals".

It features a ground-floor bar, first-floor bar with roof garden, basement cellar and owners' accommodation.

The venue has also gained a reputation for its cocktails, which include Monkey Iced Tea, Raspberry Mule and Kentucky Turncoat.

"I'm not planning to change much but I have some strong promotional ideas, and I'm really enjoying running the business," Patel said.

The lease has 29 years remaining and the rent is £50,000 a year. The business was sold off an asking price of £275,000.

As well as focusing on the Brass Monkey, Patel hopes to expand within Nottingham.
