Smoking ban High Court challenge
Eddie Douthwaite, West Lothian
I have experienced the smoking ban in Scotland and I applaud those willing to fight it. The media have played down the detrimental financial and social effects of the ban in Scotland, especially in the lead up to the smoking ban in England.
Katie Short, Gloucestershire
I am anti-smoking. I don't like going for a night out and coming home and still smelling of it in the morning. But I have no objection to properly-ventilated smoking rooms, providing that every effort is made to ensure that as little smoke escapes into the rest of the building as possible. If you are able to get that, then good.
Nigel Maud, licensee, Herefordshire
On 15 June it was stated that the Government had been written to about making changes and giving them 14 days to respond. Why has it been left so late to challenge, giving them 14 days to respond with only 16 days to go? Surely this should have been done so the judicial review could have been held before the start of the ban?
