A Bolton licenseee has vowed to continue showing Premier League matches on foreign satellite despite receiving a warning letter from police.

The letter, sent by Garry Lee, the licensing officer at the Bolton division of Greater Manchester Police was sent to all licensees in the area.

However, Ivan Whittaker, licensee of The Volunteer Pub, in Radcliffe Road, Bolton, told the Bolton News the letter was"disgusting".

He said: "We have been warned that action will be taken and that our equipment could be taken away.

"They have absolutely no right to take the equipment away or send a letter of this nature when the law is so unclear."

He added: "Sky for too long has had a monopoly. At the end of the day, we are all in Europe and can subscribe to other broadcasters. I will continue to show the matches."
