Greene King is aiming to break the world record for the longest outdoor bar as part of its annual racing celebration at Newmarket next month.
The Sport of Kings event on October 4-6 is the Greene King brewery's annual 'thank you' to publicans across the country and features three days of spectacular turf action, including a Greene King sponsored race.
But this year visitors could be making news themselves by drinking at a specially built bar which the brewer reckons is easily the longest in the world at more than 120 feet.
Greene King Brewing Company's Fiona Hope said: "The Sport of Kings event has become a favourite racing fixture for publicans across the UK, but this year we thought we'd add to the excitement by calling in the Guinness Book of Records to confirm that we do have the longest outdoor bar anywhere in the world."
While the world record for the longest indoor bar is held by the Beer Barrel Saloon, in Ohio, USA, with a length of 405 feet, no title currently exists for an outside bar.
Greene King is hoping its specially built bar - on which can be lined up 480 pints of beer - will set a new record.
The event will also feature Greene King's own "tipster in residence" Roger Hart who will be offering advice on runners and riders to publicans.
Last year Frankie Dettori won the Greene King IPA Handicap Stakes.
