Laurel Pub Company is on track to celebrate the launch of the 100th Slug & Lettuce before Christmas.

The company has rapidly converted more than 50 bars within the last year to become the fastest-growing brand on the high street.

Commercial director Suzanne Baker said: "The growth of Slug & Lettuce is testament to the quality of the brand and the strength of the premium food and drink offer for our customers. We have seen Slug outperform the market during what has been a particularly difficult summer trading period for the industry".

In 2006, when Baker joined the company, the Slug & Lettuce estate was made up of 47 bars across the country. The acceleration of the brand has been fuelled by a significant investment programme that has seen a combination of conversions from bars such as Hogs Head, to the purchase of new premises such as the Slug & Lettuce at the former Dome, the O2.

Slug & Lettuce has also shown success in growing food sales.

"We have seen food sales grow by more than 30% this year," said Baker. "And we aim to build on that growth by continuing to refresh our premium food offer to ensure that Slug & Lettuce becomes a leading option in the casual dining market".
