Lib Dem MP Greg Mulholland claims he is "sick" of hearing about abuses of pubco power.

The outspoken MP and supporter of the Fair Pint campaign launched a scathing attack on the pubco system as he appealed for evidence to be submitted to the Business & Enterprise Committee before Monday's deadline.

Mulholland and fellow MP Tim Farron have been out visiting licensees in their constituencies to learn of their experiences.

"It is high time that the power of the huge pubcos was looked at again," said Mulholland. "I am sick of hearing tales from all over the country about how pub licensees are being forced out by unreasonable terms.

"Some of the pubcos continue to be over defensive which is most revealing but they have to address one simple question — if it is such a great business model why are so many of their own tenants up in arms about the way it operates? It's long past time this was examined."

The new inquiry will review the progress made by the pubcos since the 2004 Trade & Industry Select Committee report.

Evidence has to be submitted by Monday 29 September. Click here here for more details on submitting evidence.
