Three-quarters of Punch lessees are now serving food, according to the pubco.
Punch said that its dedicated team of eight catering executives had helped to increase the number of licensees offering food from 67% of the estate to 75% in 12 months.
The catering executives offer free advice and estimate that over 1,200 licensees were helped in the last year. A total of 87% of those licensees surveyed said they believed that a food offer was key in retaining customers.
"The catering executives are all experienced catering professionals and bring years of experience," said Punch catering development manager Alan Todd,
"They provide an advisory and consultancy service on any area of the food industry and that service is completely free to our licensees.
"They will visit the licensee for an initial session to assess their specific needs. It might be a pub that has no capacity for a kitchen and so the catering executive will look at alternative ways for them to offer food, for example with a pizza oven.
"Or it may be that a licensee has a food offer in place, but their margins aren't quite right. The catering executive will look at everything from getting better deals from suppliers, menu design and re-launches through to kitchen hygiene and identifying any relevant training programmes."
The team is currently helping licensees gear up for Christmas.
