A couple that are former Publican Food Awards finalists have been awarded an AA Rosette for their outstanding "philosophy" on food.
Nick and Tara Culverhouse, owners of the Fox and Hounds Country Hotel, in Eggesford, North Devon, were given the award for their restaurant's excellent food and service.
During the inspection, the AA especially noted the venue's "philosophy" on food - as everything is sourced as locally as possible - and awarded it a three-star rating.
Nick, previously the commercial manger at the Association of Licensed Multiple Retailers, said: "We love food and want as many people as possible to experience great dining, simply cooked and sourced locally from Devon.
"We also deliberately keep the prices competitive to make it as accessible as possible."
Special highlights on the menu include fresh Taw River Mussels, Exmoor Beef and seafood from the abundant waters around the Devon coast.
The Fox and Hounds was highly commended in the Beer with Food Pub of the Year category in the 2007 Publican Pub Food Awards.
