Thwaites in Ashes battle of brands
Lancashire brewer Daniel Thwaites has teamed up with Waitrose for an Ashes battle of the brands.
Customers will be able to buy Lancaster Bomber and four other British beers at a 25% discount in a head-to-head against Australia's classic wines.
David Carter, national account manager at Daniel Thwaites said: "Daniel Thwaites Brewery has been shirt sponsors of Lancaster County Cricket Club for the past two seasons and has enjoyed a successful relationship with the Club for 14-years.
"Lancaster Bomber shot to fame when England and Lancashire Cricketer, Andrew 'Freddie' Flintoff, endorsed it during the 2005 Ashes series win over Australia.
"For this reason it was the natural fit for this promotion in Waitrose stores. Cricket is in Daniel Thwaites' blood and Lancaster Bomber Ale is a testament to our support of this great English sport."
Neil Whelpton, Beer and Cider Buyer at Waitrose said: "Thwaites' Lancaster Bomber is a great beer. The Daniel Thwaites alliance with cricket, both nationally and at grass root level make us confident that interest in this beer will exceed expectations and make the 'beer and wine Ashes' all the more exciting."
