Entries have been flooding in for the John Smith's People's Darts tournament since the competition kicked off two weeks ago.

But organisers want more pubs to enter their champions to ensure that all corners of the country are represented.

The national tournament, supported by exclusive trade partner the Morning Advertiser, aims to give pub and club darts players the opportunity to play on the main stage at Lakeside.

Players will go on stage just before the BDO World Professional Darts Finals next year in front of a packed house and a TV audience of millions.

Licensees are being urged to enter their stars into the event and there is the chance to win £1,000 worth of darts equipment — plus a personal visit from a darts pro — for outlets whose players make it through to the quarter-final stages of the competition.

Knockout competitions will be held in September and October, and each outlet will then nominate a house champion to play in the eight regional finals.

Regional champions play in the final in January.
