The BII and Punch Taverns have teamed up to support a week dedicated to British pubs.

Last year campaign group Justice for Licensees launched National Pub Week with the help of brewer and pub company Marston's, who will again back the initiative. MP Greg Mulholland is also on a steering group to help make the most of the event.

This year the week has been rebranded British Pub Week and will run from October 30 to November 6.

Inez Ward, Justice for Licensees founder, said: "This is a positive and encouraging step forward in this trade working together for the benefit of the Great British Pub and in turn for the trade as a whole. I am hopeful that many different areas of this trade will work together to celebrate and promote pubs through British Pub Week."

Marston's pub company's retail solutions boss Peter Lyne added: "The great British pub is at the heart of many communities and is important too their continued existence. Marston's is pleased to support British pub week and hopes that it will invigorate community's back into using their local more."
