Court Not Caution to take civil route
A campaign designed to get justice for pub staff who are assaulted at work is now aiming to get compensation for victims.
The National Pubwatch Court Not Caution campaign was launched last year to get physical attacks on staff taken more seriously after a series of incidents only resulted in police cautions for attackers.
At the British Beer & Pub Association Spring Key Issues Forum in Manchester today, National Pubwatch chairman Steve Baker said he was talking to lawyers about the possibility of taking on attack victims cases on a 'no-win no-fee basis'.
He said: "We will try our best to get police officers to take this seriously but there is more than one way to skin a cat. If we can't impact them through the (criminal) courts we will go for their pockets and recover that money."
