Former Greene King tenanted pub boss David Elliott is heading a new pubco with plans to take on 200 sites within 12 to 18 months.

David Elliott has been appointed chairman of Quercus Pub Co, an offshoot of Quercus Capital, a Cardiff-based leisure property management business.

"I was approached by one of the partners to ask if I would be prepared to help set up a new pub company," Elliott told the Morning Advertiser.

"I've been involved in lots of transactions with Scottish & Newcastle and Greene King but never set up a business from scratch."

Elliott said he hopes to buy pubs in the South West and Wales to create an estate of tenanted and leased sites.

"We are looking to buy freeholds, or potentially managed pubs, and converting them to leased or tenanted, and acquiring leased and tenanted pubs from other companies.

"We're not looking to buy distressed but under-performing assets."

Elliott, who left Greene King in January, was with the company for 11 years.
