Punch Pub Company has offered 10 job seekers in Warrington a taste of life working in a pub.

Punch teamed up with Warrington Collegiate and Job Centre Plus to run a two-week Pre-Employment Training Programme at its 10 managed pubs in the town.

The course included on the job experience and the candidates were presented with a food hygiene certificate and were guaranteed an interview for a vacancy.

"I am hopeful that many of the candidates will go on to carve out a career with us where they will be able to continue their training and development," said Catherine Smith, talent & resourcing business partner at Punch.

"We encourage our pub teams to develop their skills and reach their potential through a comprehensive training programme which includes our popular Apprenticeship programme."

Punch will now be looking to roll out the programme on a national basis.
