Brewer and pub company Timothy Taylor has been awarded a Crystal Mark for making its tenancy agreements easy to understand.

The company, which has 20 tenanted pubs in Yorkshire and Lancashire, has teamed up with law firm Gordons to achieve the Crystal Mark from the Plain English Campaign.

Tied estate manager Andrew Dakin said: "Tenancy agreements can be daunting documents so when it came to updating them we thought it was a great opportunity to set about achieving the Crystal Mark standard.

He added: "By making the tenancy agreement more accessible, it enhances the already strong relationships we have with our tenants."

Pub companies across the country have been updating their tenancy agreements and codes of practice following criticism by MPs of the relationship between landlords and licensees.
