Licensees at an "immaculate" Hampshire pub have been named Wadworth's Tenant of the Year.
Brid and Dereck Phelan of the Golden Lion, Winchester, were congratulated on the "extensive and excellent" selection of food, beer and wine on offer, whilst being singled out for the standards of staff training that has lead to excellent levels of service.
Dereck Phelan said: "This really does proves that hard work pays off."
Meanwhile, Joe and Jessica Caudle of the Victoria Arms in Old Marston, Oxfordshire, won the Manager of the Year award.
They turned a summer pub into and "all round gem", Wadworth said, and they were described as the "ultimate ambassadors for great beer, food, service and events".
Joe Caudle said: "This is completely unexpected. We trained with Wadworth seven years ago, moved on and have only been back about a year. It really has been like coming back to family.
"At Wadworth it actually feels like people care about what we are doing - we have received fantastic support from the brewery and have found that people do not just listen they act on it as well. We are delighted."
