Heineken UK has renewed its sponsorship of the John Smith's Cup for the next three years.
The sponsorship deal with York Racecourse is the longest-running sponsorship in flat racing — at 51 years up until now.
As part of the renewed sponsorship deal, a new £30,000 race — the John Smith's City Walls Stakes — will join the £150,000 John Smith's Cup feature handicap. Karen Crowley, senior brand manager for John Smith's at Heineken UK, said: "John Smith's has forged an enduring partnership with racing and, over five decades, almost two million John Smith's trade customers and consumers have enjoyed John Smith's Cup day at York.
"We are delighted to continue our long and cherished association with York."
The brand's multi-million pound investment in racing is spearheaded by its sponsorship of the John Smith's Grand National at Aintree.
