The Duke of Kent has given his royal seal of approval to Marston's special beer brewed to celebrate Wills and Kate's wedding.

The Duke visited Marston's Burton brewery last week, met with the staff and helped start a brew of Perfect Union.

Director of brewing Richard Westwood gave the Prince a tour of the brewery that included a demonstration by Marston's cooper Mark Newton and a visit to the oak casks where Pedigree is brewed.

"It was a real honour to have His Royal Highness, the Duke of Kent start the first brew of Perfect Union," said head brewer Emma Gilleland.

"We have worked hard to come up with a special beer designed to celebrate the royal wedding and are delighted that a member of the royal family came to help us brew it.

"The Duke was very interested in the traditional way we brew our beer, and also took in a sample of Pedigree in the visitor's centre."
