Suffolk microbrewer St Jude’s has bought its second pub and is looking to open a second brewery.

The company has taken a private lease on the Old Millars on Felixstowe seafront, and plans to open it in mid to late November after a £10,000 refurbishment.

The pub is to offer as many as 50 British real ales and 30 beers from Belgium and Germany, said St Jude’s director Frank Walsh.

Traditional pub food such as hot pies and pasties will be offered, he said.
In terms of expansion, Walsh said: “We are planning to open more in the future but we will see how it goes. The country is in a difficult situation financially, and we’ll wait to see how the economy works out.”

Meanwhile, Walsh said the company could open another brewery at some point. The seven-barrel St Jude’s Brewery produces around 40 to 50 firkins per week.
