Punch licensees support schooners and food

Punch licensees gave their comments on the new Carling two-thirds of a pint glass, after Punch teamed up with Molson Coors to launch the glass.
They gave away 50 cases of the glasses to licensees in an online promotion on the Punch Buying Club website.
The launch tied in with the Government legislation allowing pubs the option to sell beer in the new measures from 1 October to encourage responsible drinking.
Licensees who felt that the new measure would go well with food, thought lunchtime trade would be ideal - when half a pint is too little and a full pint is too much - as well as using it in combined meal deals, such as a burger and a schooner for £5.
Over a third of licensees (35 per cent) felt that it would appeal to women drinkers who didn’t think it was very ‘ladylike’ to hold a pint glass and it would benefit them by up-selling from a half.
