BII launches new Level 2 training award for pub doorstaff

All door supervisors who qualified prior to June 2010 will soon need to achieve the Level 2 Award in order to renew their SIA licence.
The new award will consist of two units: Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry; and Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors.
It will be added to “physical intervention skills” which were made mandatory to the updated door supervisor’s qualification in 2010, as a result of an agreement between the SIA and the government. These skills included techniques for dealing with difficult situations and safely escorting customers off the premises.
The new Level 2 Award for Upskilling Door Supervisors will also cover physical intervention skills as well as first aid awareness, legislation with regard to children and young people, and dealing with terrorist threats.
New entrants to the industry will still be required to achieve the BIIAB Level 2 Award for Door Supervision.
